Why Portugal


Portugal is a peaceful and safe paradise, full of life and blessed with a wonderful weather. Portugal is also famous for its hospitality, helpful and warm people, and its Mediterranean food, filled with diversed flavours.

Situated in the extreme south-west of Europe, a couple hours from major European capitals, Portugal occupies an area of 88,889 km2. It is bordered by Spain and the Atlantic Ocean.

Portugal drove the globalization by starting the Discoveries Epoch with the conquest of Ceuta (North of Africa) in 1415 and following trade expansion in search of spices from the rising sun kingdoms.

The country has the oldest stable borders in Europe. It is a member of European Union since 1986 and it is likewise a member of NATO and CPLP (Community of Portuguese Language Countries).

Its capital, Lisbon, is the European city with the sunniest days, an average of 300 days per year and the temperature rarely drops below 15oC.

The property investment market in Portugal caught the attention of foreign investors when Portugal joined the Euro in 1999. The reduction of foreign exchange risks and the positive evolution of the retail and office sectors acted as a magnet for foreign investment. The market is now highly transparent and it is regulated by the most demanding and professional organizations of the commercial property sector. According to the Report of Cushman & Wakefield, 2016, “The Portuguese property investment market has been generating interesting levels of return.”
