Times change but traditions do not. The Algarve remains the favorite holiday destination of most Portuguese. And during the months of July and August it can be difficult to find a space to spread the towel in the sand. But in the southern region of the continent not all the beaches are full of tourists.

There are beaches in the Algarve that are a true paradise and very little visited by travelers. Without having to do many miles you can find deserted beaches, surrounded by nature and well away from urban areas.

Most of these deserted beaches do not have any infrastructures and support services. The access road is usually difficult and conditioned. If you are a naturist you will definitely love these little paradises.

Praia do Canavial, Lagos: This beach is narrow, isolated and very quiet. It is surrounded by scenic cliffs that cut out this little paradise. The water is transparent and reveals the submerged rock formations. Access to the beach is through pedestrian rails that run through the top of the cliffs.

Beach of the Canal, Aljezur: This wild Costa Vicentina beach is very secluded and lies south of the popular Arrifana beach. The beach is about a mile. You will find a breathtaking view of the Stone of Needle.

Praia do Barranco, Vila do Bispo: This small paradise is run by cliffs that create the perfect conditions for the formation of the bay. It is very famous among divers since it is home to a great diversity of marine species.

Murração Beach, Vila do Bispo: Murração is a rocky beach and has an extensive beach. It is located in a valley, surrounded by cliffs covered with vegetation. It is elected by many naturists, given its tranquility and indescribable beauty. Here you will not find easy access.

Cacela Velha Beach: Also known as Fábrica beach is located on the old Cacela Peninsula. It is a large peninsula with fine white sand and dunes covered with diverse species of plants. It is part of the Ria Formosa Natural Park and has been voted one of the best beaches in the world by Condé Nast Traveler magazine.

Praia da Fuseta, Olhão: The sandy beach with about five kilometers is ideal for those who enjoy long walks by the sea. The waters are warm and crystal clear. A boat trip takes you to the salt mines and the ruins of Torre de Bias, Cumeada and Alfaxina. It is one of the most protected beaches in the Algarve and is distinguished with blue flag.

Beach of the Deserted Island, Barreta, Faro: This is the southernmost territory of mainland Portugal and is located in the Ria Formosa. The Barreta is popularly known as Deserta Island and hosts several species of protected birds. In this little paradise - with blue flag - you can take walks along the beach and enjoy boating. This beach can be visited all year by boat.

Praia da Carriagem, Aljezur: Located in the municipality of Aljezur and in the vicinity of Rogil, it is part of the Natural Park of Southwest Alentejo. It is an uncrowded beach and ideal for nature lovers. Carriagem has a small beach and is very popular with fishermen. At low tide it is possible to observe a natural shale amphitheater.

Barrinha Beach, Barra de São Luís, Faro: It is part of the Ancão peninsula. It is a privileged place where you can observe a unique ecosystem and various types of birds. You can visit this beach by boat or walking along a wooden walkway.

Praia da Esteveira, Aljezur: Mainly frequented by fishermen and more adventurous travelers, it is a quiet and secluded beach. This small paradise is surrounded by cliffs and rock formations. It has no support infrastructures and surveillance
